Hi guys,

We love Easter craft and activities in my household so thought I’d share some things we’ll be doing to keep our kids entertained but also make Easter more fun this year given we all have to stay home.

Easter Tree

We started creating an Easter Tree years ago. Not sure how it started but now we have a great collection of decorations to hang on it. You start off with a large twig with branches coming off it and then either stick it in a larger vase to hold it up or in a pot with dirt to hold it up. Then you make or buy Easter themed decorations. On our tree we have a collection of small little chickens, some Pom Pom Rabbits (made in previous years), hanging paper rabbit cut outs etc. You can decorate with whatever you want. Coloured or painted eggs and bright ribbons are also fun.

Pom Pom Rabbits

Make cute little rabbits from woollen pom poms and some felt. There are lots of “how to make “ videos and instructions on the internet so don’t feel you have to use the one I’m giving you here from One Little Project. Start Making Pom Pom Rabbits

Decorating Easter Biscuits

There are a million ways you could do this and lots of different recipes. Basically you make a butter biscuit dough and cut into rabbit or egg shapes using cookie cutters , bake and then decorate. Decorating can go from gorgeous pastel shades that are stylish to crazy bold colours. My children will choose the latter when we do this on Easter Friday. Here's a basic recipe that should get you started if you don’t have one.

Make Hot Cross Buns

For those a little more advanced on the cooking side and with older children ready for a challenge, making Hot Cross Buns is fun. When we lived in Vietnam, we couldn’t buy Hot Cross Buns so we made them every year. Here is a great article by Gourmet Traveller on how to get the best hot cross buns and then their favourite recipe as well. I’m going to try this recipe this year!
